Smooth wall-rubble..

In most (read all?) of the DoD:S maps, the destroyed walls have a smooth ruble edge, I was wondering how to get that smooth effect, because it really looks better than the hard-edged ones..

I figured it would be the displacement/dubdivide tool, but that stretches the textures beyond any hope, so I guess that's not it..

it's the displacement tool, although currently it's driving me crazy. I believe it to be a result of a few sewn together displacement maps (especially after looking at Flash in hammer). Furyo made a very nice tutorial about creating a displacement mapped roof at dod-federation (http://www.dod-federation.com/forum/index.php
), and the VALVe developer wiki has a barebones explanation (http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Displacement) of displacement map sewing. Any more experienced mappers care to make a tutorial about it? :)
