I have all my flags (3 area 2 flag) set up but how do make a nice flag attached to a building or similar? I've seen it done in some maps but have no idea how to do it?

go into properties and changed the angle of the flag, select it in hammer and hit properties

Err, this didn't seem to work. Any other way?

I think it's because of your ambiguous question.

What flags are you talking about ...

Ones like on Flugplatz when you cap the planes?

Ones like on dod_saintz near the the allies spawn for the jeep?

What do you mean?

NOTE: flugplatz tut map: http://www.mardymouse.co.uk/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=54

OK I think I may have got some where...

Haircut I wasn't specific because I wanted anything.

Anyhow here's what I think I need to do:

select flag -> properties then when it says 'model when allies capture' I set it to models/mapmodels/flags.mdl, BUT then there is a field below that called model group. I then change this to the correct value for which you need to use HLMV.

I've tried this but it says couldn't find C:\Steam\SteamApps\xxx@xxx.com\day of defeat\dod

right/wrong?

I'm now getting the error:
Mod-NumforName: couldn't find C:\Steam\SteamApps\xxx@xxx.com\day of defeat\dod

I's definately there and I'm pretty sure I've changed all paths to just models/mapmodels...

It's very annoying!

Well I stopped the modnumname error by deleting the 3 area flags and related cap areas. I also re assigned the index numbers to the remaining two flags.

However now the map loads fine until it actually puts you into the game as a spectator. Then it crashes. Then I cry. There's no error messages what so ever. Steam just closes. I cry some more.

...help!

your map is probably still looking for a model or sprite that it cant find.
It may be that you are missing the "T" version of the model, for example, if you put an env_model in that is directed to models/axis-sniper.mdl, you will also need the models/axis-sniperT.mdl, or you will crash, but not as the map loads, later when u go near the model ingame. I believe the T is for transparent, and only certain models seem to require it.

sounds like your paths are all messed up.

you do not need to include a Tmodel, and I thinkit is for texture not transparent

Thanks for your help people. It's fixed using the very cunning and highly sophisticated DELETE ANYTHING THAT COULD BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM technique.

OK well what I did was reset up everthing like suggested on mardy mouse. Deleted all the models from my map. Re did the control points. Redid models.

Tested while I was going along.

The flag pitch and yaw settings now work.

Super!
