I am not a noob (or perhaps i am lol) but I have never experienced this error before. I know what normally would cause it but no matter what I try, I cant get a map to load with some models I want to use in my map. It compiles fine, but when I launch the map in steam, it errors saying cannot find blahblah.mdl I have made sure the models are in the correct folder dod/models/map models, in fact I just copied the models and put them in every possible model folder and recompiled several times with no different result. If anyone can explain wth is going on I would appreciate it. I have mapped for cs and ns, this is my first dod map and I am baffled. Thanks in advance. -Dj

Do you have the ability to test it in WON? You might have something odd like a forward slash where a backslash needs to go in the directory for the model (in the env_model setting) or vise versa.

The only thing I can think of is maybe the fgd file, vhe, or zoners tools I am using have a conflict somewhere between them. Here is what I am using.
Xp Cageys latest zoners tools build (works on ns mod)
Valve Hammer Editor ver 3.4
Dod 1.0 fgd
Im really confused at this point because putting models into maps is so simple, I have never had a problem doing so in any other mod. If anyone has some suggestions plz share. I dont think its the path or anything like that, but at this point who knows.
Thanks in advance, -Dj
*edit* Ok I figured it out, there must have been a problem with the file name, I just changed the model name to test and it worked fine. Funny because there was nothing wrong with it from my experience

Ok well there is something else going on with the models, they show up but arent solid objects. Sure I could put an invisible brush around the model but I wont get that nice spark effect when it is shot. Can someone please tell me what the trick is? Again I am assuming this is dod specific, I have never had this problem in other mods :o
Thanks in advance. -Dj

Im not sure if its in your dod folder or if you have to download it, but there is a wad file called hlbasic i think, and it included all sorts of textures that create different sprites, such as grass, metal, wood...ect. It also has things like the sky, clip, null texture. To make the metal thiny, make your box that you have on your tank a metal texture (use the heavy one), and make it an entity (i think thats ctrl+t). Then in its propery, make sure Render Mode is set to Texture.

Thanks man, I would never of guessed I had to do something like that. There really should be more sticky threads because I have found finding information like this hard to come by. -Dj
*edit* ok I searched for that but cant find it, anyone have it that can link it to me?
*edit again* Ok i had to download a special extractor to open up the compressed files in steam for dod and managed to find the wad there.
