some questions about mapping

Hey there guys.im fairly new to the mapping thing but im sure there are plenty of peeps who know wot thay are doing.
First things,im not happy with the compiling tools on hammer editor.i cant put map models in as this causes the map to lagg really badly.Ive made a map for the clan im in and some peaple say they still lag.i have thinned the walls and grass and sky textures.it runs silky smooth on my comp and plenty of other peeps in my clan have no problem,just the odd one or two.

Secondly,now this is frustrating me to high hell.when you cap a flag and usually it should say "joe bloggs has captured the axis gun"for example,ive tried this and i cant get it to work.is this something to do with the dod_control_point_master or the actual dod_control_point?

Please help.ne1.and if ne 1 can tell me how to use zoners tools to compile(i have xp pro) as they dont seem to work,or recomend a better compiler,i would be very thankful.thanks guys:confused:

For compiling go to www.valve-erc.com and get Zoner's Half-Life Tools (ZHLT) Custom Build 2.5.3
For the flags, go to www.mardymouse.co.uk and have a look at the flag tutorials.

Hey there.
thanks for that.i have zoners compile tools but i just cant get them to work.i click on them and a dos screen flashes for a split second then dissapears.dont know wot to do.ill check them flag tutorials right now.again thanks.but if ne1 can tell me how to use zoners compile tools,that would be great.

You need to set them up in hammer the same way as you had he old ones set up. Make sure you are actually running VIS properly, not running it will cause a lot of lag.

Okay thanks very much guys.Im a proper donut about the zhlt.Ne ways ive got it sorted out now and in stead of using hammers built in compilers,im using nems batch compiler which sorted the laggy maps out.highly recomended.Thanks for the dod controle point thing.Do i honestly type that in?it looks crazy.but ill give it a go.thanks agaain guys.youve been a great help to this fledgling mapper:D :D :D

%p means whoever capped it

%n is the name of the point

%t is the team he/she is on

all to make on your screen say

okay,now this is pissing me off.plz help me.How do i get the music to play when allies/axis win?ive put the entity ambient generic in and set it to britwin(i aint done axis yet).But when i test it it dont work,just silence.plz help as its driving me up the wall.many thanks.
