Ok,

So ive started on my map, and i try and put it in the steam folder under maps, and it cant find the models, because there in the pack file of coarse. So I do it to my old won map folder and start up and i click on my map name and it wont get past the load screen, it doesent freeze, but it doesent go any farther than like 1/3 the way down the load bar.

How do i make it so i can test my files?

THANKS

Make sure the models your are using are in your files,
dod/models or dod/models/mapmodels or dod/models/my map name ( if using custom models or you want to keep them seperate from other folders and model files, ie.. you edited the texture of a model for your map and do not want to overwrite the model they see on every other map)

when you placed the model in your map, it needs to reference the dod/models folder or it will not be found by steam and will crash

Ok, I can make my maps and run them as long as they dont have models in them : / Everything was going good and working in game, then i add one model, try and play it and i get an error, cant find c:\prog file\steam\steam apps\email\dayofdefeat\dod.

My models folder with all the models are in there right folder, and the map models folder inside the models folder. So why would i get this error?

THANKS

It all depends on how you set Hammer up. You need to reference your valve and dod folder properly there.

What about sounds and sprites ... do they work?

in hammer, DO NOT direct the entity to C:/program files/steam/steamapps/etc

for models direct it to: models/mymodel.mdl
for sprites direct it to: sprites/mysprite.spr
but for sounds, you can direct it within the sound folder
like: ambience/mysound.wav
(it knows to look in the sound folder already)

when you place you env_model in the map and goto properties hit model name, then in the box hit the little search button, the one with three dots and if it doesn't autonatically goto your dodo/models folder direct it there, choose your model and all should be well, also check out your set up, this is a helpfull site
