rotating light beam

ok ill see if i can say this right. i have a pole with a light on the top. i put a fade brush with func_rotating(notsolid,Y-axis, render texture, rend amount 75) grouped with an origin brush centered on the pole. i then have an env_render targeting the group and a multimanager that turns the group and func_rend on(i think, kinda new to this). i thought this would make the light beam(fade brush) rotate as though it were going around on top of the pole but nothing moves. anyone know what im doing wrong?

Ok, im still not to straight on what your trying to do.

Are you making a searchlight, or just a light that has a "beam" of light coming from it? Is it a siren type light? I see you said rotating light beam, but it would help if you described exactly what context you will be using it in.

If your making a searchlight, perhaps someone can buzz Fuzzdad about this. His searchlights in Flugplatz are great. Anyone got those setting?

not a search light but a roataing light like on the top of a police car or firetruck, if you know what i mean. just rotating around the y-axis. not to worried about making the light_spot rotate just the brush with the fade texture that creates the beam look.

sounds like you made a minor mistake somewhere

u have a func_rotating
does it have a 'origin' brush as part of it?
did you give it a "speed" value?
did you tick the "start on" flag?
did you trigger it?
did you misname it or the trigger?
these are all easy to make mistakes
