My first map- HELP

Ok, so I decided today that I want to get into mapping. It sounds like fun and a great challenge. So I followed a tutorial on how to make a box and run the map in Hammer. When I run it this is what i get in the dialog

After all this show up I get an error that says "Could not find filesystem dll to load." What could be causing this??

ona problem you will find is that you are using way top many wadfiles!!!!

ok, i took out most of the WADs and it fixed that problem, but now it just crashes hl.exe when i try to run the map

Look into log file if there are any more errors or warnings. Does HL give any error msg ?

post the new compleet logfile .. cant really help from these words

one thing i noticed:

long file extentions .. shorten your dir's D:\compile D:\wads

this prolly wont be causing your crashes but it is more tidy

the programs look out of order to me,
shouldnt it be csg,bsp,vis,rad, THEN copy the file

o, and i never let it autoboot afterwards, i like to compile without steam in the background, then run steam without vhe in the background

and yeah, pick like 2 wads to work from, or the best wad organizing method i think is this:
i have a basic wad with null,sky,clip,aaatrigger,black,white,etc
to this i add textures a few at a time as i need, as per the particular map-in-progress, and save it as dod_mymap.wad
then, every compile i do a -wadinclude
so you always work from just 1 wad, called the same as the map(working title anyway), and it keeps you from skyrocketing through the texture limit before you're half done
-hint- for n00b mappers- build everything with null, (except sky), then add textures only to visible (ingame) faces, this will keep r_speeds from entities down, and keep you under the base_patches limit. :)
