texture properties

I read a few other posts for texture properties but none of them really seemed to help me. I have a snow texture which right now uses a grass property (so when u shoot it, grass comes out). I want it to have a sand property (so when u shoot it, sand comes out). Now ive read this post that u must put x_texture name (x represents the texture propety) but it never worked (snow, grass, sand..ect). And when I check official textures, they dont use that naming code so im confused.
so now back to my question: How can I make it so that my snow texture has sand properties?

It's in sounds folder.
You have to add your texture with proper letter on beginning of line as the rest of textures. But then other people won;t have it and will see default type.
So you have to rename your texture to some other from this file which have already set type you want to have. Just be sure that your map doesn't use any WADs that include it.
