Moving Particle Shooters

I've been trying to get some moving smoke, but I've come across 2 problems, my particleshooter doesn't shoot so much as play the sprite in a small ball, and 2, it runs out even if I set it to infinite.

Could this be caused by leaks and small map errors that seem to pop up anywhere and everywhere?
