Well, after hours of hard work I'm proud to say my new allied pack ROCKS! it replaces the americans only, with the 347th Infantry Regiment, 87th Infantry Division, 1st HQ battalion. This pack was made to commemerate the tirless effort of that squad, which included my grandfather, in the Battle of the Bulge and the crossing of the Rhine River. A little backround info on why I decided to do it and how...I just started to talk to my parents about what he actually did over there...there's so many stories of battles fought, friends lost and amazing luck. He was awarded the Bronze Star and was on the demolitions crew that set all the mines, grenade trips and traps in the days before the battle of the bulge. It's hard to imagine that someone you knew so well was over there doing that...its something you have to really think about to even comprehend. Anyway, this pack is dedicated to that squad....I think it came out well. Some insight on how I did it..I took 8th Guards 28th reskin, grabbed some belt, dirt and mud textures, took GenieD's 3rd ID pack and took his facial blood and wound textures, and the original DoD models, I put the blood on the faces and used 4 photos for the faces as well as 1 face from SpAsTic cHiLd's CS Wolf Recon pack. Cleaned it up, added some dirt and moved on to the helmets, also from 8th Guards wonderful pack. I put the 87th patch on the helmets without the outlining and brushed it to make it look worn. Same thing for the arms. I took the insigina's from my forums over at skullz.net (which I did originally anyway). I changed the pants coloring, and used 8th's dirt on there, and added some bloodstains using a light brush with transparency. I used a whole new skin for the leggings and the boots, (Also turned up the contrast) and recolored both jackets, and added the 1st battalion pin.
It was a whole lotta work, but it was fun, and worth it. I hope soome of you guys enjoy it! :)
(This time I gave all my credits the FIRST time AND in the readme! so there!!)
