This one started me of on mapping. It shows you how to create the basics of mapping including spawn-start stuff.

Read the text behind the link I gave you and you will know everything you requested in the start of this thread.
when you have the locator to place an entity hit enter and it will appear.
but by "little guys" do you mean models of the players or sprites of little grey people.
If its sprites ignore it because thats what the DOD team used to represent info_player_allies/axis before now. theyve stopped doing it.
If its the models then your missing 1 of 2 things. 1) Hammer 3.5 2) model veiwing support .fgd (the latest one like mine HERE (http://members.shaw.ca/dvdgillen/file/dod.fgd) )
However alsong as you get a box that shows the area the entity is in it dosnt matter. If you can see something where you placed it and access its properties theres not a thing wrong.

ok. Yeah I get a green box were I suppose entity will be for spawn.
SO that is ok then correct? Sweet. Ill move on now to some more of the tutorials..I want to get this stuff down to a T so i can get good as alot of you.
Plus I want to help make maps for a mod in the works. Thanks you both for your time and help, and patience.
