yeah, the first one sucked a mountain of a$$ the size of an Imperial Star Destroyer so here is a new version im working on. Only got the wood so far but tell me what you all think. It's a photoskin BTW.

HUGE improvement from the last. now add some lighting and ull have your self some nice wood. :)

I'm really gonna take some time on the metal texture, read tutorials and such. Adding lighting sounds like a good idea but may I ask, where should it be properly placed? Dark on sides, light on top?

well, you need to have a light scource. wich would typically be above the object.
heres an example. light coming from the top, and simply make it bright on top of the object, and darker on the bottom.

heres another example of lighting.
Lamp and ball (http://www.dodstudios.net/uploads/uploads/lampitylampruss2.jpg)
lamp is aimed at the ball, at an angle, therefore, light reflects off the top of the ball, and a shadow is cast behind it, and under it.
