DOD_HAVOK...Player requested changes.

06-16-2003, 05:37 PM
Hello everyone.

In between work and the family duties, I have finally finished with the player requested changes to dod_havok. As well...I have tweaked a few other things while I was at it.

Here are a few of the changes I have made.

The dim lighting was a big issue with many folks. Lighting has been increased in most areas like the houses, as well as the environment.

The allied spawn area is now "bot-friendly". The included waypoints could use a waypoint doctor though. ;)

Removed some redundant entities.

The trees now cast realistic shadows. :)

Added new blow-through into mansion.

Tweaked some textures.

Fixed some clipping issues.

Several other small changes.

I believe this will be the last compile, barring some unforseen major map issue.

I want to thank those of you who took the time to contribute some feedback, it is most appreciated.

In return, I hope I have made the appropriate changes to my map which will offer you all a more enjoyable gaming experience.

You can download the updated file here:

Anyone that wishes to mirror or host this map, you have my many thanks.

nice..
but i have to say the kubelwagon model looks like crap (no offense). perhaps u should replace it with a halftrack or a tank made by H&K?

BTW, I should apologise and clarify. I have not had the time to take new screenshots as of right now. The screenshots on my web page right now are outdated.

As soon as I get the chance, I will take some updated shots and post them to the page for everyone to see before they download.

If for nothing else, but to see my beautiful shaded trees. :)

I'll get on that soon all.

Btw AFG, the kubelwagen is not a model. It's all brushwork.

I'm just glad people are enjoying playing it, as much as I enjoyed making it.

I'll be starting a new project soon...I'll keep all you map hounds posted. :)

Somebody called for a doctor? Great map, the waypoints look good, just a few minor things need fixing. Doors and capture areas mostly. I'll post an edited waypoint set tomorrow, unless someone beats me to it.

Very nice.

But still no proper zip package :(

Ah Smitty...Thank you sir.

skdr...You mentioned this before if I remember correctly. I also remember asking if you were able to clarify your statement and help in this area, as I definately am not a Zip-God by any stretch.

About all I know how to do with WinZip is zipping things up and unzipping things. Ima Zip-Noob! :)

Maybe if you could explain to me what you mean by a "proper zip package" and how I would go about doing that, I could then do one.

Edited waypoints HERE (sturmbot.houstondod.com/downloads/waypoints/dod_havok.wpt)

Changes: removed the bazooka spots, I'll try to get the bots to use them the right way without clogging but.... the bots aint real bright. Added some door waypoints and changed some capture areas around a little. Nice map. Love the intro :p
