A brit map in winter would be cool. at night time aswell... and how about a building capture!!
Yeah, Brits in the night in winter would be cool.
And personaly, I like a mix of objectives, for example, the map I'm making now will have 2 tanks for axis(to blow up, a tricycle for the allies(to blow up, you'll see). And 2 or 3 flags. That way, one lucky guy that charged cant win the map.........but thats just me.
yes, zalec-style mixed objectives are perfect imho

Here's an idea: Night, winter. Turn every section of the map into a huge capture area, so when someone walks into a street without enemies in it, it goes into their control.

/me agree with Xerent's idea. This kind of map would be so realistic, to control a whole city.
Sagitarius, I guess you love dod_flash :D
Perhaps a map in 1941, axis paras vs brits in Greece (1941=no MG42, no MP44, no Kar43), under a bright sun, with particular objectives for each side, like in dod_jagd ;)

as long as you make it so that both teams have an objective, it'll be good. I think maps where 1 team doesnt have an objective and just "defends" are poorly designed and dont have as good a gameplay.

Sucks for you because they're pretty popular. :(

BEST idea ever. Wow... this way you could actually simulate battles by gaining territory and pushing the enemy back.
GREAT idea xerent , this is my total suggestion. Time and teams are not of a great importance althought there is a near total lack of night maps.

Schwetz is my favorite DoD map of all time. Teamwork.
The only problem that i can see with the street cap thing is the amount of streets you have and/or the number of streets belong to one capture point. Especially if you have a elaborate map with indoors. It would be really frustrating to have to walk around a whole block just to find 1 guy.

It would force you to move as a team , and work together to clear city blocks.

I like flag caps, mainly because most objective maps aren't really balanced properly. Jagd is a masterpiece if played properly, congrats to the team for that one.
But i miss some of the good flag cap maps from the betas. Maps like Oslo and cherobourg were allot of fun. And schwetz was pretty cool, but rarely played well on public servers since it had too many complex team caps for most people.
But they were good :)
I'd really like it if someone could mod the objective maps (like Jagd), and make them flag caps. Then they might get played in BFE, which is honestly the best DoD out there. Co-ordinated tactics, 10 servers full to the brim for 12 hour battles.... anyways.
I like the idea of having a map with allot more flag zones, that take up big sectors. It would be cool if you looked on the mini-map and sectors were shaded appropriately for each team (red for axis, green for allies).

actually, I think it would encourage smaller grouping since there would be allot more ground to control. But it might require some good communication.
Also capping progress in the HUD should probably be represented by percentages rather than like 20 little flags.
If the team coded this kind of gameplay into a patch, then I have a feeling allot of really cool maps would start to show up.

This scenerio in my book is known as Secure. It involves a team fullly encompassing an area to ensure that there is no way the enemy can exist. As mentioned long ago, he said that the map mustn't be too big as too little players = hard to win map.
But then again, do you need *every* section of the map to be covered??? Not necessarily. Prefably, this can be applied to critical areas, like spawning area borders, where if enemies wander into it and surround it too much, that particular spawn would be defective. It could simply be a bunch of areas that a team must hold simultaneously...Perhaps, there can also be a timer involved where they must hold all simulataneous for a certain period of time.

British + Winter = Norway :D
Would be nice to have some maps based on this part of the Atlantikwall. There were a lot commando style skirmishes in WW2. Maybe someone from that area can elaborate here on the topic.
Personally I am working out details for a map loosely based on the Heroes of Telemark movie with James Coburn. Also having a setting in Norway.
