Heres kinda what i have in mind , of course id do it in more of a late 40s style , and it would be far more polished , this is just so you can see visually what im talking about.

Heres The Idea (http://bigred1.netfirms.com/ideamap.html)

Hope you can handle those r_speeds.

The R speeds are horrible right now , but i havent tried to optimize at all , i just took the one floor i had done , and copied it 5 times for the example lol.

So you are just trying to make 2 buildings that are close to eachother ?

DimitriPopov

Yeah but with alot of rooms and fighting limited to these two buildings. and i wouldnt really say im trying to make it , i work on it for liek 5 minutes at a time. Trust me my idea isnt like anything ive played yet.

I always wondered how inside fighting would work in dod. Would definiteley like to see it if you take it any further.

Looks interesting. Dont know what to say except that and how MGs, snipers, and grenades would work out.

MG's and Snipers wouldn't be suitable in a building fight scene like this, not enuff open spaces for them.
Grenades would be really effective in this kind of map, you could clear heaps of rooms with them rather effectively.

I don't recall seeing any houses that looks even close to those in ww2-france.

Were you in france during the second world war?! :D

I guess the buildings are a bit high indeed, but in the pianist I saw a few buildings that looked a bit like this one.

dod_stalin_obj1 is a remake of the MOHAA map of the same name... It's a tight "room to room" fighting map with a small courtyard between the buildings... It's very arena styled, and remapped rather well... It even comes with waypoints for the bots...

It may not be as tall as you are planning, but it's tall enough for some good fighting...

Thx for that one :) but I still wanna see how the big-ass building plays too

There were/are such huge buildings on eastern front (Poland, Russia, Ukraine)

Now who gives a **** if DoD is western front mod...

Not me. Now when DoD goes to Source, I want to see a full-scale Warsaw Ghetto, the destroyed one from the end of The Pianist.

This is not finished , i only have one floor finished , its just a copy and paste job to show you what i had in mind. If someone would like to take the idea further , you can be my guest , as long as i get a short blurb in the credits ;) if not , ill keep working on it , maybe a little harder now.

I would like to play with it a bit, but since I'm not really an accomplished mapper I think you should do it urself :)

its not a bad idea, but maybe no so big, kinda annoying to charge through 100 rooms looking for the one(s) with all the guys in them

its gonna be more deathmatch than anything else, just to let you know

I don't recall anything in WWII that looked like a space ship...... HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Oh and Dimitri, I thought you were going to make a map that was filled with buildings exactly like that. But it should work if it's only those two.

Maybe 3 stories per building?

06-07-2003, 12:33 PM
sure, three stories would be better I think, you still have some height, but its much more characteristic of 1940's Europe
