Ok, I guess this belongs in my British Airborne thread but seeing how riled
up the Canucks have been of late I figured I'd post it here so none of them
missed it. :D
I'm apologise if this disheartens any of the guys who recently made Canadian
Airborne packs - I guess some of you weren't around on the old forums and
know how many months I've been working on this.
I've finished the "base model" for my airborne pack and as well as the
British version, I made a Canadian version too.
Anyway, without further ado - he's done!
>>Canadian Airborne Soldier (http://www.speedfreak.com/misc/canuck.jpg)<<
Whats left to do before I can think about releasing this is a pack is to
add the webbing which I already have from the models I made for 3.1 and
tweak the skins a little more.
Probably about 2 days work to get it perfect.
Sadly, the bad news...
Im going on holiday! :D :p
I'm off back to Britain for 6 days so your going to have to wait another
week before I can even start doing the webbing.
Sorry to disapoint ya folks! [insert evil laugh here]

man ive been watching your "WIP" for too long lol:rolleyes:
how long has it been ? 8-9 months =\
Trp. Jed

Nah not that long.
The 3.1 versions were done 4 weeks before 1.0 came out. The reason I didnt
release them was I was holding them back to release as a pack with a lot of
weapons Marzy had done.
Then 1.0 came out, played it for a while and converted my models over but didnt
like how they looked so much.
I've been working on these for about 3 weeks, about 1 hour a day. The model
only took about 3 days from scratch but it was the texture that took the longest as
I junked all my original textures and started
again - and I'm bloody glad I did.
But YES, they WILL be out soon, or rather - as soon as I get back from my
short vacation.

did you actually make the entire model/mesh/skin by your self ?
or was some of it borrowed ?

thats pretty cool :)
not to many people here make anything from scratch most of it is from other games
maybe you should think about working for a mod as a player modeller;)
edit/ what do you use to make your models ?

Well thats what I would do if I could get a full time job doing it. :(
And I have been asked to work on other mods but I'm more into WWII history hence DoD appeals to me more and the challenge of trying to make something look good on a ****ty engine.

Milkshape, LithUnWrap and Photoshop 6.0 much to Marzy's chagrin :D

No don't stop, it's just that you have been hanging people on a very short leash...tempting us with images, and then saying it'll be another week, I am excited, but please, stop the temptations, like forbidden fruit...
At least with forbidden fruit you could still eat those if you wanted to.
Jed do you know of any video tutorials of Lithunwrap. I don't think there are any. If thats the case i think your next project should be a video tut for us nubs :D :D . Yea i kno its quite a bit to ask but really getting that cas.. something monitor capture program and a mic is pretty easy. You have no idea how useful it'll be for me and others like me. I can only model and do some skinning. If i could mesh it'd save me having to rely on others to do it for me. Oh and in regards to you model will he have gear when he is finished because although the bare model looks brilliant i do think that gear would look great. :p You don't have to do the video thing obviously but i kno that you'd get alot of props from me and other modellers.

I did think about it actually.
I was toying with the idea of doing a tutorial on how I made the skins and all the tricks and cheats I did.
LithUnWrap is a bit odd when you first look at it but it is suprisingly easy to use.
I think when I'm finished with these Airborne models I'm going to quit making new models for a while and try and do some tuts/hackjobs/help people out for a while anyway.
