Thats pretty damn cool, I wish the sound was a bit better so I could hear it more clearly (so I could replace my thompson_shoot sound with a more 'realistic' one)

Do you have them in Quicktime compatible format? I'll rip the sounds and increase the sound a little bit in SR.
*EDIT*
Just rip the Mafia sounds, it sounds just like it.

Guy with the MG42 in that last video needs to learn how to care for his gun better.

Like HOW MANY stoppages did he get?

one, and it was just the ammo belt probably wasnt on correctly.

Skippy. Damn skippy.

.40 S&W is a very recent development, mid-late '80s. FYI.

I want to see a video of an FG42. Those things are sweet.

Has anyone ever held a Thompson? They are freakin heavy! I can see a officer wanting to pass off his Thompson for a Garand or something because lugging that all over Europe or through some jungle....good god. Not to mention .45 is freakin heavy ammo.....so....eeeek. Anyway, awesome videos.

Yes, I have.

One slowly gets used to it, if at all.

But I wouldn't trade its firepower at close range for a Garand anyday. If I got a Thompson, I'd never give it away.

I'm FF, a dod custom sound editor.

I just downloaded that video and oh gawd, the sound, I ripped, edited - AMAZING!.

I'm gonna put it in my upcoming pack, which will also contain a real mp40, (other sounds arent real).

I don't think the guy burns himself at the end of the movie. He has some back pain or something like that. He screams right when he tries to stand up.

Replay the movie and look at the recoil his body takes when he blasts. You'll notice from were that "aaaouch" comes from :D

Actually, realistic sounds are kinda skinny. So it really isnt any fun to listen to...

eep, I can't dl em :\ (homestead doesn't work for me)Can anyone provide a mirror? Or am I on my own on this one??

06-04-2003, 05:22 AM
The reason so-called "realistic" sounds suck is because they aren't recorded by microphones positioned on the guy's head. Guns sound nice and loud and beefy when you're the one firing them, trust me. But when the pickup is several dozen feet away, it just doesn't get the full effect.

Here . . . .

06-06-2003, 11:08 PM
Here are some more . . . .

Keep in mind that the first thompson I attached in this thread, is designed to work well ingame.
The next few sounds I am about to attach will not, or they might - but the point is that I havent edited them with the intent for ingame play.
Just wav references for the videos.

Just remember that only the first thompson sound I posted has been designed to work ingame. Though the rest will work, including the MG's - they will only play ingame, but have not been tested or edited for an optimum effect.
