Hey guys,

Some of you may have seen this in another thread.

Anyways, this map is just a push gamemode map supposed to look like a destroyed city.

All classes should fit in here.

Riflemen should be able to shoot down the long streets, assault and support can take the destroyed buildings and there are MG, Sniper and Rocket positions scattered around.

Here are some pics.

Actually after playing Company of Heroes Opposing Fronts I really wanted to change the atmosphere to a rainy and dreary day using the new Source rain effects and some reflective textures but it was too much effort ;)

You'll probably have to rename your map - according to the Map Name Reference Database (http://www.dod-federation.com/map_name.php) dod_carentan is reserved by:

dod_carentan by Netronic reserved on 2007-03-30 Type : [WIP] (http://www.dod-federation.com/map_name_search.php?search=dod_carentan)

If you're Netronic then I'm going to have to put on the embarassed face. :o In any case, you can request a name in the DOD:S Map Name Reference Database (http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?t=54955) thread. Just be sure to read Streamline's first post.

Oh really? Damn. Anyone know any good names. DoD_Destroyedcity doesn't sound too great.

By the way, that map name was reserved in March this year WITHOUT a WIP and I haven't heard of it since. I don't think he's still working on it ;)

dod_detruit?

According to AltaVista, détruit means destroyed in French, so you could go with that?

Looks awesome, by the way. You've really captured the carnage well.

I think a good, memorable english word would be best. One or two syllables. My suggestions:

dod_ravage
dod_wreck
dod_butcher
dod_gut
dod_shatter
dod_slay
dod_damage

Found all of these in the Thesaurus under "destroy". All currently available in the Database. (I'm really fond of dod_shatter as the name :) )

Hi,

Your map looks nice so far. To your map name what about name with Carentan+addition

e.g.: dod_CarentanCity
dod_CarentanStreets
dod_StreetsOfCarentan...
dod_CarentanBattle
or
dod_deCarentan
...

dod_ravage sounds pretty cool. Also, if you want, I had started a map for 1.3 called dod_rubble, and assuming that name isn't taken by somebody else, you're welcome to use it.

you can use the name if you want to, i don't have the time to finish my version :( . I post it in the DOD:S Map Name Reference Database thread, too.
