hi, i'm not spork btw....me using his account cos i can't log on with mine

"This is typically caused by having extremely large scales on faces, (typically far above 10, usually 100). Otherwise it almost always shows up on a 'check for problems' in Worldcraft as a 'texture axis perpendicular to face' error."

download zhlt ..it lists all the problems like that there

Im pretty sure its the error "not Spork" is talking about..

Try selecting all, get the toggle texture application tool (shift+a) and then hit the align: face checkbox. Now compile and if it works it was a texture aligned perpendicular to face of the brush. Problem solved but your textures might be a little off, so might want to check them out again...

Hammer doesnt always find that problem for some reason...

Ok, i did what you told me and it worked, im not gettting that message anymore. But now im getting this instead:

Bad surface extents 17520/0

When looking at the log i can see an error occured when running the map through rad and vis if that tells you anything.

You are basically going to have to check every brush and scale the problematic ones up or down depending on what the problem is. Or you could just retexture the map. You can definitely see if it is just your error or if there are other problems by selecting the whole map and scaling it to 1.0. That will fix your surface extent problems but now you have to adjust the textures again. I have had this problem and it sucks unless you have only like one brush that you scaled wrong and you miraculously find it. Good Luck!

Are you running -subdivide other than 240?

go through everyface that you created from the time that the error started and up till now. press shift+a and look at all of them, if the scales are really big (17848), or really small (0), then change it to something like 1. Its probably to a face you cant see, otherwise you would have noticed.

Well, thats how I've always solved it. Its never come up in the problems box thing

Yah it sucks man but its all in the learning experience! Problems make you better because you learn not to make them plus how to solve them so you can help the next guy that asks about the same problem. Hope it turns out OK!

sometimes this can be caused by a face that dosnt reallt exsit, play around with clip and vertex edit and you should be able to get one. 9/10 it will give you an invlaid solid structure but the other time it gives you the surface extent error because it can't define the face properly.
