Is there anyway to assign a certain skin to a specific steam ID. My idea is a personal thing. I'm in a realism unit and i wish assign a rank to the skin of each of my fellow unit members so they have their actual rank on there shoulder.

My question is: How do you assign a skin for a steam ID?

you can't period. It needs to be done coding wise and Valve hasn't done that for their games yet (Maybe TF2?)

I was wanting to do this to. you would have to have a specific model for each different skin and use a skin/modeler plugin. It is done a lot in css and can be done in dods. Best bet is to just have one custom skin for your unit with your units patch or something. If more maybe a enlisted skin and officer skin.

I do know that this can be done but only as a server side thing. Some servers have it so that theres a skin for admins.

Exactly, now not sure of a way via steam id. Shouldnt be to hard, you could have a model admin chooser and then have a event scripts plugin that forces players by steam id to select a certain model. Best bet if you do one for each rank would be to have them just select the proper one.

The thing is that yes you can make by server but that means that you would need to upload all the skins with there rank to the server and force everyone to download them. Plus, you would need to update that list for each promotion/demotion or the enlistment/discharge of every member. Making it a server side mod would take too much time and complicated.
