Has this model/skin been made?
I'm asking if has this model/skin been made?
http://www.panzer.punkt.pl/artykuly/waffen_ss/poster2.jpg
It's from the Waffen SS, using greatcoats.
Or at least is there any mod which features Germans with greatcoats?

there is not such a model. would be way too difficult to
animate that and make it look good. but i would use it :D

Damn, and what about DOD 1.3 (not source)?

i am not 100% sure because i havent watched dod classic custom stuff in a while, but the modelling problem would be the same so i guess : no :(

Yeah, I am curious too. I have never heard about goldsource =/
Are those models compatible with normal DODS?

Goldsource is the engine the original Half-Life (and all mods, including DoD) ran off of, so no, it's not compatible with DoD:S unless you convert them.

That means I can use those models in DOD 1.3 and not in DOD:S right?
Cool, I always liked non source games, the trade of mods for graphic is something I don't like, I prefer decent graphics and lots of mod options.
And I'm still waiting for the screen shots ! =P
i've seen greatcoat models. what the modeller did was extend the bottom part of the jacket down to the shin area. it did not look all that great tbh. mainly because there was no opening so it looked more like a skirt than a coat...and it just didn't look like cloth.

Not bad, this would be, I guess you could say a step UP in skinning, if you could accomplish the coats. Next step...Fallschirmjäger Helmets.

There a trench coat axis models for HL1 DoD here:
http://dodec.hlgaming.com/
They're skeletons, though I'm thinking it wouldn't be that hard to make them look human.

Is it only the skin or the whole model is skeleton? I now know the creator is "Devin Kryss" somebody get him! =P
Also, is there a list of mods databases? or more modding forums?
Thanks ;)
Looks like I found something:

Well, it is downloaded, now some minor skin editing to make it look like the scale figure. I hope there is one model with the neck thingy lifted like in the poster (look first post)

the difficulty of fallschirmjager helmet isn't even comparable to a change to the body. all you do is cut the skirt of the helmet down to ear length.
for the body you have to do a whole lot more adjustmentsand other procedures.

But, what the fallschirmjager helmet for?
The re-skin would make the uniform look something like this:

But, what the fallschirmjager helmet for?
it can be made to accompany a custom fallschirmjager model(with smock and ankle boots)

Nice haha =P

To clarify something, that is SS Polizei FrontEinsatz Gruppen - those were rear area SS Police that had the authority to shoot anyone they thought might be running from the front and just about anyone else they thought might need a bullet.
They should not be confused with Waffen SS, which were the front line combat troops.
Interesting poster though, one is carrying what looks like a Sten and the other is carrying a WW1 Mauser.
Fun!

(in order below)
Thanks for the info. The poster was set to provide an example of the model I was looking for. I found it though. But only for DOD classic not source.

Source can do cloth already can't it? But on a player model, thats the question.
EDIT:
The upcoming version of the source engine will include support for physics-based animation for simulation of things such as floppy clothing, flexible hair, and better blending of ragdoll physics with predefined animation.[11] Previously, Source's physics system could not deform objects except between bone connections.
I guess its only in the latest version, so that rules DoDs out.

DoD will be moving to the EP2 engine eventually. I'm not even sure if it'll happen along with the possible January update.
As for "cloth" simulation. It doesn't simulate it in the way you think where you drape it over a model an it falls to form. Its still skeleton based but it uses something called "jigglebones" which react to the models movement.
Best way to see it is to load the Chell player model from Portal into HLMV and spin it around in the 3D window quickly. Look at the ponytail on the bag of her head and how it reacts - thats the sort of simulation they mean.
You could very well make a greycoat for a german model this way, but you'd having to do it along the lines of how the TF2 doctor model works with bones in his coat and then configure jiggle bones to make it react.

That sounds hard as hell, considering my null modeling and skinning experience. I only change files made by other to fit my personal requirements.
What is EP2 engine?
Thanks.

Actually, it sounds a whole lot easier than I've ever done it... I've only used regular bones and animated the coat movement by hand for each individual animation. That was hard as hell.
