This is my first public release. It's not CAMP quality or anything but they're fun to play.

Both of these are remakes of sorts. They aren't strict remakes by any means. I remember having loads of fun on them and I wanted to try my hand at making maps.

I hope the original mappers aren't offended by them.

The original mapper for vire was Dimgora.

The original mapper for fc was Xerent.

I hope I did both of you proud.

Had immense fun last night on both these maps over at the 82nd Rangers server last night.
Nice work, atm they actually look like 1.3b maps hehe  :D

Wouldn't take much effort to give them a much better look, simply by reworking the lighting and giving them atmosphere. These screens look almost fullbright, and I take it the light_environment settings were left to their default values, meaning pure white lighting from a noon sun.

Giving it a red/orange tone and a late afternoon feel could bring out some nice shadows and a much warmer feeling/atmosphere.

Yea, I'm still pretty new at this mapping stuff. But I'm having fun doing it. I'm learning how to do new things with each new map.

The lighting on vire has the same lighting values as in flash but the light position is high noon. The lighting on fc is an exact copy of flash.

Is there a good place to see different skybox and lighting combinations or is it all just trial and error?

Glad you had fun HuXx! I have fun on them as well. They both get pretty intense in populated servers. These maps are based on older 1.3b maps that's why they have that feel. I'm trying to get better and will hopefully be able to get more of that "source" feel in them.

Thanks for playing them.

Type "sky list" on the wiki and you'll have all the info you need. However I've always found these values to need tweaking. I guess that's Valve's way for multiplayer maps, they just don't like shadows (I didn't say dark areas). CSS has the same lighting, and well obviously TF2 does but that's just normal.

I like Argentan's sky the best, as it's got a 22 degree sun which provides some great late afternoon/early sunset feel, but I make sure to increase the intensity of the sunlight and give it a pronounced red tint.

Here is an example of the kinda lighting it can bring:

In the first shot, it almost looks as if the tiles are texture with the orange dev textures, but that's just the sun. Same thing in the other shot

Added the map to both of our servers. Also to our download section. No registration needed!

Nice work Jimmy...Keep it up!
