[WIP] dod_estalingrado

Hi all, First until tell you about this map, i have to said that recently we created a forum for the spanish speaking community, for all dod custom content, and help all of us in our proyects of all kinds.

if you know spanish o want to contribute anyway in english it would be greatfull for us:

this area is support by deayofdefeat Spain and dayofdefeat Argentina.

As a result of this, we are finishing our first proyect, dod_estalingrado, we wish to call it stalingrad but the name was just taken.

its a 5 flag map, with fog, middle flag need 3 man to cap, and when allies cap it it sounds the main theme of "Enemy at the Gates" thats the translation from spanish into english of the film between red army and germans, based on the sniper vassili zaitsev.


map is not still finsihed, currently we are working in textures, and ambience to create a very good atmosphere.

Gotta work on the ambient lighting and the fog. The transition between no fog and full fog is just too sudden. I suppose your fog start value is at 0, try putting it at -600.

Also you might want add displacements to the destroyed sections of walls and start adding in rubble models etc to add some spicyness to the map, currently (And I'm not trying to be nasty here) it reminds me of a dod gold map ie quite square and boxy.

Good start otherwise :)

new images fog changed, and added more buildings and details on its structure, continue working fixing floor dispplacements details and doing some optimization

It's somewhat reminiscent of pictures of Dresden after the war.

I'd recommend losing some of the rubble texture, especially if it's covering a huge area, like in your last three screenshots. Since your buildings seem to be concrete and stone, maybe it's worth it to model some destroyed building sections instead? Or at least use some of the existing concrete debris models.

Fog is a lot better now, though be careful not to overdo it either. Might have a hard time spotting the pesky snipers in all that fog. I guess only a playtest will tell

The new screens are looking quite good but I'm not sure on the fog. Make it a little thinner so snipers can still snipe but not domiant the map.

there is actually destroyed buildings you can place form half life 2... there in the sdk, maybe they could add more detail..
