Hello! I have started my own custom map server and was wonderin that can I freely use any custom maps on the server (mapcycle) that I find from the internet or other servers? :confused:

unless for some odd reason the map author says otherwise, which i have never seen

All custom content, unless explicitly made for a company that's paid for it, is released under the Creative Commons license (almost no one bothers to mention this, but it's the best fitting license and most appropriate for maps) which basically states that the content is "free for all as long as it keeps its original form".

In other words, you're free to redistribute it, use it, advertise it, etc as long as you don't modify it without the author's permission.
