A new fun problem...

Yesterday, when I loaded up my map after a nightly compile, I noticed that my light_environment stopped working, and I have no idea why. Well, I have several ideas, but I don't know if they're the cause. I've deleted everything that I had put in after the last good compile, but it's still not working right.

I noticed something in VRAD about a degenerate face, but I don't know if that's what did it, or how I can find the degenerate face.

Any thoughts?

Here's an in-game shot of the map after the recent compile:

and one from a working compile:

Looks like a fast compile. Try a normal compile.

There are also some areaportal errors in there, that should be your main concern.

Quite a few errors in there, rather than explaining them all I'd suggest you run your log through this http://www.interlopers.net/errors/ which will tell you what problems there are and generally gives good ways of fixing them. I'm guessing any one of them could be the reason for your problem. One thing you could try first would be to input a dod:s specific hdr skybox in the map properties box, rather than the default one you are using. Dash, the full compile didn't work, unfortunately. Whitey, thanks for the link. I'll try to fix the errors in the map. Hopefully one of them is what caused it. I was betting on the degenerate face being the problem, since I never saw the error in a compile before the problem arose, but apparently that's a benign error.

it reminds me of screens that other people have posted, that turned out to be caused by something to do with the 3d skybox being to small.

I had this once and it was my 3d skybox camera was to low the skybox was covering the light to the map it was like a huge shadow on the map I simply moved the sky_camera up a little and it was fixed !

Unfortunately, I don't have a sky_camera in the map yet.

Edit: I'm back on track. I couldn't figure out what the problem was, but I've been copying all my buildings into one of my previous saves. If anybody wants to try to figure out the problem, let me know, and I can give you the .vmf file.
