I've been absent from the scene for over a year now, so consider this a return of sorts, but let's forget that and get on with business!
dod_harvest (comp 01)
It was through the support I get for this map (even to this day) that made me consider returning to mapping. Harvest is as it was when I released it in beta 1, back in April of 2006. I cooked up several revisions and upgrades, my favorite was a winter makeover that cranked up FPS (after all, ice is only a texture ;) ) along with necessary adjustments to my mapping technique. After all, I was just a beginner! Here's the bad news though: I had an uh-oh computer moment recently and lost all of my existing .vmf and .bsp version of Harvest. All of it, the pre-betas, the revisions, gone! So now I have the task of downloading my own map, decompiling it and taking it from there. To this day there are still plans on the table to finish this one... it was tough because I challenged the limitations of the engine with all the open spaces and didn't quite win that battle in terms of FPS.
dod_napoli (comp 02)
Something I haven't shared with the DOD community was the map that I slaved over during the long summer days of 2006. The map was for the most part 95% completed, but life has a way of happening sometimes, and I pretty much abandoned this one, and mapping altogether about a year ago. Now that I've returned, I see that another map has been released under the same name (apparently a 1.3 remake). I'm sure I did my homework, because I never found a napoli in the 1.3 database, and I also reserved napoli back in July of 2006. But you know what, I don't mind! I'll just cook up another name for it.
As the name would imply though, it is an Italian themed map in a multi-tiered, dense, sun-drenched city. It was originally conceived as an objective based map, but was later converted to a typical point-control map. Photographic evidence!

As it stands now, I'm in school and obviously that's my top priority... so that slows down production a bit. Also, I'm on the verge of assembling a new computer that should handle my gaming and mapping needs quite well... but we're not quite there yet. It's gonna be a bit of time before I get the ball rolling again, but I'm just putting this on the radar for everyone.
Happy gaming!
