Buttpack Issue

I did a search and couldn't find anything so if this has been posted sorry. Anyway, I have something wrong with my buttpack on my Allied model. http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/1552/dodavalanche0004ev9.jpg
See that white triangle above the buckle. When I get far away from a person it goes away but usually it's like this. I didn't have this issue until that June:28 2006 update to DoD:S. I don't think it's because of that but thats when it showed up. Any ideas on what might be wrong and how to fix it?

What video card do you have?

are you using any custom skins? I had one onetime that had a part that was accidently left white and it looked like that

I have Wile's player skins but this showed up before I got the DoDSVU. I just recently got the DoD:SVU and I've had this issue for a little over a year.

NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT

The 6800GT is your problem. I heard it's a problem with the 6 series, and I have the same card and same problems. It's because of phong, and it'll happen if you take off phong but leave the normal map on when you shine your flashlight on it.

No fix as far as I know, and it is annoying to me, too.

Ohh ok. I assume this would also be the cause for the same white textures I'm getting on Wile's VU pack's weapons.

Well, thanks for letting me know what the problem was. Hopefully there will be a fix for it soon.

I thought that was supposed to be the reflection on the metal buckle.

Nope, this is always pure white, because for some reason on stretched/really small faces of models, I'm guessing the card can't calculate the angles right or something and always shows it as pure white. It's really annoying when I want to test phong, too.

Yeah its the notorious 6800 bug.

Yeah, but the thing is, my bud who has a 7600GT (I know it's a 7 series at least, not sure if that's right model) said he gets it sometimes too. Is there any fix (custom drivers?) you know of that can fix it?
