I have been workin on this a few days now its getting close to a beta test . fairly simple but just alittle different game play .
I only have this one pic uploaded right now and yes it is too dark but I am still making changes to it I will post more pics asap.

so does valve have issues with us decompiling their maps and making different versions of them? just curious, because there are some maps that could be improved upon lol

Now Donner needs to be at night or maybe at least gray skies bright donner as is -is silly but my favorite map

I'll be the devil's advocate (again) and say I'm not very surprised. All those "at night" maps just last a few days and are forgotten about. There's something about night maps that doesn't quite get to me, especially if said map is already available in normal format.

Change your ambient. That smoke looks horrendous with that color. The fog doesn't match the skybox either.

Yeah I say this looks fun to play. However, i'm like the very few that love playing night time maps. :[

I do like how you added enough lights to the courtyard area.

looks really nice, I would love to play a night version.
Night maps are always hard, for DOD to play like DOD it needs enough light to see anywhere, but seem dark. A blue tint always works wonders, I'd maybe add a few more lanterns or something to put more lights into the action areas, but allow some areas to be a little dark..
Just wondering, it must be hard to get a decompiled map to run well, do you have to rebuild all the area_portals and junk?

I do think real night map are too hard to play because you keep on trying to find the ennemy rather than playing really, it's also worse for your eyes.. I personnaly cannot stand more than 10min on too dark maps....even with gamma upmost

what I prefer is faking night (as in movies) dark blue but with ambiant light just what it needs to be bright enough so you see the enemy but still have the feeling its night...

why bother with night time/dark maps, players just crank the gamma up on their graphics cards to compensate.

yeah we all do that!! but it's for the atmospher!!! for realism!!

a map at night doesn't give the same felling than a day map... even if you have a fake night...

I like it when people create a more Twilight feeling like in dod_tarmac, it's nicer, easier on the eyes and on the gaming.

the problem i am having is the shadows on my map are blue and not dark like they should be, its night time but its not dark like u would think, can u tell me the setting causing shadows to be blue and not dark grey, thanks

SORRY I have not replied in a few days I have been stuck at the hospital with my wife for a couple of days but thank god we are both home again and I can get back to this again .

you are so wrong maybe where you play they have been forgoten about but there are quite a few servers out there still running my flashatnight and avalanche@night with people playing on them not just empty servers !
it seems like these maps work the best after playing the original version first then play the night version just about everyone that plays them on our server is amazed and they want to know what other night maps we have that is enough to keep me making these converted nightmaps . Dash opinions are like buttholes everyone has one but not all of them smell to good !

area_portals yes all of them were redone ..........more lights are on the way too thanks

man it seems way to dark to me, have u seen images from my latest schwetzingen, its set somewhat at night, but u can see real good. if u want me to share my light settings let me know, u can plug them in and see, but it will depend ont he skybox to how the light will look in ur map, let me know
