Hi everyone. I'm not sure if this is the right forum.
How do I get weapon skins to work? I zip the files and everything but am not sure where to put them. For example, for weapons I should go to
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\andre******\day of defeat source\dod\materials\models and then where? All that appears there is a folder called csff3 and another called player.
Sorry for the noob question.
After I put the zipped file in the right place, how do I get it to work in the game? Do I just go to a server that allows different skins then press a number when the skin option window comes up?
Thanks.

This belongs in the MSA section, but:
This was written by EZ and it's more extensive than what Ska wrote:
This is a guide on where to install all custom content for DoD Source
Player skins:
steam/steam apps/(e-mail addy)/day of defeat source/dod/materials/models/player/american or german
Player models:
steam/steam apps/(e-mail addy)/day of defeat source/dod/models/player/american or german
Weapon skins:
steam/steam apps/(e-mail addy)/day of defeat source/dod/materials/models/weapons/*v_models or w_models
Weapon models:
steam/steam apps/(e-mail addy)/day of defeat source/dod/models/weapons/*respective weapon folder
Objective Icons:
steam/steam apps/(e-mail addy)/day of defeat source/dod/materials/sprites/obj_icons
Splash Screen:
steam/steam apps/(e-mail addy)/day of defeat source/dod/materials/Console
Player Icons:

Sniper Scopes
steam/steam apps/(e-mail addy)/day of defeat source/dod/materials/sprites/scopes
Crosshairs:
steam/steam apps/(e-mail addy)/day of defeat source/dod/materials/vgui/crosshairs
Sounds:
steam/steam apps/(e-mail addy)/day of defeat source/dod/sound/weapons, player, or ambient.
(Ambient sounds are sounds such as win round music, distant battle sounds, wind, etc.)
When installing models, skins, sprites, etc. to a folder that you dont have, just right click and make a new folder in the last folder you do have. The folder you make should be labled accordinaly.
* v_models and w_models folder names for specific guns (v_model is the weapon you see in first person view. The w_model is the weapon you see in other player's hands and on the ground).

Yes I saw that guide. But the problem is I don't see the "weapons" folder. I'd also like to know how to get it to work after I've placed it in the correct position.
(Sorry for posting in the wrong spot)

If you don't have the folders, create them.

Okay I created the folders, now what?
Do you suppose that, perhaps, maybe, by some longshot chance, a question about "weapon skins" might potentially belong on the Models, Skins, and Animations board?
Nah, neither did I.

Nah, neither did I.
I did acknowledge that it may be in the wrong forum and then I said sorry.
