Packing player skins into .bsp's, is it possible?

Hi all,
I've often thought of, as some of you would of, that it would be great to have uniforms that match the weather or setting of a map. For instance if it's snowing then a players skin would be winter camo etc etc.
So I was wondering would it be possible to pack a custom winter skin for instance into a maps .bsp so that when the map is loaded the skin's loaded for the correct team and you will then have custom skins that match the weather.
Is it possible?

INsane was working on something like that. I have a PM he sent me on how he was working with that situation, but he said he never got it to work quite right.
Maybe he has done more work on it. I for one would love it, especially the fall pack for dod_timberland.
I could forward you the PM and see if you can get more information and see if you could do it...on one condition. If you do figure out how to do it, you have to let me know. :D

Sounds good thanks, and yes I'll let everyone know how to do it including you if i get it to work.
the only issue I see with this is the fact the cache may not 'clear' out the skin when the next map loads and you're then stuck in say a summer map with winter player skins. I hope theres a work around for that.

the snow thing has already been done but as s plugin for mani-admin, im currently working on the final release of it at the moment
I wish L. Duke or someone would make a model changing plugin for SourceMod,
not mani, as its' days are numbered now.
edit: But to answer your question, I feel that it's either not possible to do that or if it is,
would require complicated scripting which would probably break very easily.

I think a plug-in maybe the only way to go, you can get the models in to the BSP ok... but they stay when the next map rolls up :(

I started looking into this back in November. I am not a mapper, but help others with the crazy things like this.
Like others said, you run into two situations,
1. Someone joins when your map is being played and they get the custom skins loaded into cache, but on the next map they stay loaded.
2. Players come from a standard map to your map and the stock skins stay loaded.
Option 2 I got a dirty way figured out to get your skins to load by having the map run sv_cheats 1 and (command to reload materials) and sv_cheats 0. But I realized not many admins would like this, and rightfully so. And that still leaves the issue of how to get the stock skins to load on the next map.
There is probably a different way, but my conclusion (I am not a programmer) was it needed to be coded into the game engine.

Going back to when we had Regular troops and Para for the Axis, and the same for the Americans as well as having British troops, this was done by having the map simply dictate which set of player models was used.
Is this no longer possible?
