MREL: REVOLUTIONARY new springfield unertl vulture series

ok the thing thats so revoltutionary about this model is that it is the FIRST model in HL to use this effect on a weapon model.

I made the lense actually see through on the springfield. The lense looks like glass, has some wear on it and has the xhairs etched into it. There are two versions, glass-sight (AKA ironsight) and shouldered. Comes with the BEST bolt sounds and some shoot sounds as well.

big screenies:
IRONSIGHT: http://dodstuff.houstondod.com/images/springis.jpg
SHOULDERED: http://dodstuff.houstondod.com/images/springsh.jpg

as you can see in the ironsight pic, you can see the cows head through the lense and the crosshairs are also on it. dont judge this model by the pic because the true effect can only be experienced ingame.

and the scope is modelled after a scope in the Unertl Vulture Series.

dl is at my site:

Well, since they screwed the unscoped accuracy, it doesn't matter.

Whiskas

i found that it didnt help that much but the effect is much nicer, also the transition between scoped and unscoped is much smoother because it feels like your putting your eye right up to the scope

can someone post a direct link. I can never find the file untill it apears on the top of the downloads page a day or two later :(

Why vulture? They find carrion by smell, not good eyesight. To bad you can't maginfy whatever appears in the recitle though.

I'm glad someone tried out my idea. i would of tried to do it myself but im too lazy lol

Tried it in game and I actually get killed alot more lol Instead of jus putting up my scope I keep trying to be cocky and get them through the cross hair instead, which actually take longer to aim through lols

Good work anyway, nice aniamtions

well, it would if the unscoped sniper rifle had the accuracy of the zoomed one. but whats stopping someone from just putting an IS garand model or something in place of the springfield one and using that unscoped?

use it on the kustom kar models. Not bots (i dont like his), but the wood reskins and metal reskins and such. And make this for the gray metal springfield.

OMFG SWEET!!!

If we could get that effect for some map models like cars, we could have glass that you can actually see through!!

Yes, I know it's on maps in wondows, but not on mapmodels.

They didn't screw the unscoped accuracy. It is still one hundred percent accurate while runnign with unscoped springfield. They just told us they screwed it to make us shut up. And to mask the fact, for two seconds, that they assraped the mg.

ANYWAYS. OMFG HOLY **** ASS! You rule whiskas. I am using.

Use your brain. Sheesh. The model is essentialy a hollowed tube with a "glass" textured model in front of it. There is no cheating or magnification going on here. :P By the way, great work whiskas. :)

Good job, however I maybe a bit anal on this, but I don't really like your wording of: This is the first model in Half-life to do such a thing. I have made the lense of this springfield transparent allowing you to view through the scope. I have 2 versions, ironsight and shouldered, this is something that definitely must be tried. Comes with sounds as well.

While I'm not sure if this is infact the first model to do a scope in which you can see all the way through WITH the crosshair on the lens, this is not the first scoped model with a see-through lens. In fact, this model was done years before (http://gunshop.clandeadgoat.net/sniper/bullit_scout/de_cbble0003.jpg) the whole transparency craze happened.

I do think yours is a nice inadvertant evolution of the old style, though I really wish you would have done it on a totally default springfield rifle. Aside from my nagging, great work. ;)

actually that doesnt use tranparency at all, its just a trick used with the chrome effect, if you took that gun and made it ironsight, you wouldn't be able to see thru it. CS wont have any transparency support until 1.6 comes out, so anything transparent is practically inpossible with CS or any other mods models. Therefore, this models title of being the first of its type remains :)

slight thread drift.

I tried making the car windows semi-transparent in dod but before I began editing the bmp I read the tut at the valve collective. for additive, white is opaque black is transparent.

hrm, got a bit of a problem w/ the car then, if we put trans. on it it will all be transparent.

I'm sure there is a way around it. color the whole thing slightly green or somthing.

Basically the CD comes with a bonus 3 PAK files that just contain somewhat higher poly and larger skinned models to replace the weapon models (pistol, shotgun, rocket launcher, etc.), people models (scientists, barnies), and monsters (bullsquids, houndeyes, zombies, etc.). All the models you see in the pictures on that site can be installed for standard Half-life, OpFor, and Blue Shift.

And bump!

06-03-2003, 11:04 AM
Whiskas, do you think you could reposition it so it's just like the default model? It's just a pet peeve of mine, to have all my models at a generally similar angle.

So in other words, I ahve to buy Blue Shift to get a shotgun model. Perfect. Bloody perfect.

And that has to be the best looking SPAS 12 I've ever seen too.
