I'm still working on 1st person flashes, but have to figure out where I can find the shader file (vmt).
I know which texture file it uses (same as 3rd person) but it does not show refract, only the texture itself.
Anyway, this is what I got now. (Don't mention the typo in the screens ;))
Few things to note first:
Sometimes it looks crapisch and sometimes it looks quite awsome, but it's not possible to put extra heat disortion next to the flash so that's what I am doing it this way. (Got the idea from the CSS version, but this one uses the muzzleflash texture so it does not look like full heat).
Colors do need tweaking.
Working on firstperson to work.
There is this "glith" that makes the flash visible through the player.
For example if you stand behind the player that shoots, you can see part of the flash.
This is probably just how refraction works and most likely nothing that can be done about it.
The reason I make this is to learn more about refracting and how it works with sprites etc., etc., and ofcourse to fullfill the demand of the folks here and beyond ;)
