Alright, So What Shaders Can Be Applied Where?

Currently exploring possibilities, but before I delve too deep, I wanna get some things straight. That is, what shader work can be done to what kind of materials.

I'm currently aware that basically everything can be done to models, but I'm not sure what can be done to map textures. I know they can have normals and envmaps, but what about phong? Does the Source engine support phong on map textures?

No. Phong is only in the VertexLitGeneric shader as far as I'm aware.
