That’s right, you can stop your frenzied anticipation as it’s finally here, complete with new tunnel, lots of pretty detail and tonnes of optimisation. I am definitely bringing this project to a close so I can move on to pastures greener, so this is as final as final gets, so if you spot any crucial problems just keep them to yourself :).
Thanks to all for support throughout the production of this map, namely everyone on the dod forums for their excellent support, who helped me through from my first brush to this complete work, the guys on Sunlit, 907th and every other server I’ve playtested on, and everyone else who’s helped – you know who you are. Before I start breaking into an Oscar style speech and thanking my family etc. I’ll move on.
Dod_claviers is the result of over 2 years of work, including one solid block of approximately 6 months (ouch). It’s been through two major re-designs, one of which was started from scratch because the first version required so much optimisation that starting from scratch was the lesser of two evils. Given my tendency to find it difficult to finalise and release anything I do I would also like to thank Kurt and the SS gang for their mapping competition, which spurred me on to release claviers b1 which, although flawed in many ways, kick started me into creating the far more playable b2, which is what has been played up until this point. This release is essentially several b’s on from b2 so lots has changed and I’m hoping it will become a popular map. I’m hoping all server admins will update to the final version as soon as possible, although I have noticed that some servers are still playing b1a.

Changelist since b2a:
* Expansion of tunnels - church cellar now leads to Axis 2nd as well as Allied 2nd
* Added various detail in form of static/multiplayer props and brushwork
* Added more cover around the map
* Replaced some textures with new ones to improve aesthetics
* Many, many minor bug fixes
* Complete re-design of some brushworkand displacements, for optimisation purposes
* Lots of optimisation, mainly concerning model fade distances
* Map now has a soundscape
* Re-design of house interior at middle flag from Allied spawn for improved cover from grenades etc.
* Both spawns have been touched up a bit, including better protection at both and more detail
* Other stuff which I've surely forgotten
Final build machine: x2 4600, 2gb corsair xtreme memory, 512mb sapphire radeon x1900xt. Build time: approx. 3 hrs (full compile -final)
