I was wondering, If anybody was bored enough, or if this has bugged anybody enough (like it has me), would anybody be interested in re-skinning the Axis grenades into actual fragmentation grenades??
The game manual for DoD:S lists the Axis grenades as frags (http://www.dayofdefeat.com/Manual/Classes.htm#2), and that's how they behave in-game, although the game models (and what the Axis actually used commonly) are High-Explosive grenades.
These are some pics of commonly used German grenades (http://www.inert-ord.net/ger03a/gerhgr/index.html) (With some detailed info on the grenade makes, frag sleeves, etc, and more detailed pics to go with them, if you click the picture), and some more info to go with 'em, if anybody's interested (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model_24_grenade#Variants)
Now, while frag sticks weren't anywhere near as common, (from what I understand), they were pretty identical looking. Basically it was the same HE grenade, but with a fragmentation can sleeve slid over the standard HE can. End result is just that the can looked a little thicker, and was scored along the outside to fragment upon detonation. Some more pics, this set includes a very basic model frag stick (http://www.relics.org.uk/germgren.htm), Which, frankly looks a little bit faked or non-authentic, but hey, I'm not a historian, I could be wrong - but even something as simple as this would look better in-game, imho, than HE's being called and behaving as frags.
Big thanx to anybody who would take this on.
