Hi all,

My new dod map is now ready! So you can take and test it men!

The bsp is too large, I know and it's a problem! It's because the map contain +/- 99% of customs things...but it still a problem. lol

I hope that you'll like my work and that you'll have so fun to play on it!

Yeah ! Great sound ambiance ! I tried it in local, but it looks very interesting to play. It is a very original map, gj Moroes.

Great map, reminds me of tobruk for dod 1.3.

We had a full server (30 players) and occasionally a number of clients would drop with an HL2.exe error.

I am guessing that this map was too much for some clients systems, a lot of things giong on at the same time probably. I did notice that when the planes flew over that this was when it was happening most.

Some clients crashed and rejoined only to crash again moments later.

Hopefully there is a way to fix this in the next release, cos its one heck of a good map!

Well bummer!
The crash is associated with the setting of a charge on the targets.
It only happens to some players and then only once to them. It will keep happening to new people as they log on.

Moroes, I think the map needs to use default hud objective icons showing the det countdown. Its a Source thing. Dustin and Jake can you explain more fully? I dont speak "mapper" :(

The map itself is a thing of beauty.

The crash is caused by the "dod_control_point" entities.

The "point_hud_icon_timercap" should be:

"sprites/obj_icons/icon_obj_allies"

NOT what you have which is:

"sprites/obj_icons/icon_obj_222_allies"

Awesome looking map, the good lighting and the skybox make it look perfect. Had no fps problems either. :)

I've seen that there are two materials you didn't add to the bsp, prolly cause they've not shown up for others. The reason is (for what I know) the leading "\" or "/" in the vmt's path. Under normal conditions Source doesn't care about it, but as soon as it's in the bsp, it won't find the material with the leading slash.

So change
"$baseTexture" "\sprites\obj_icons/icon_obj_222_axis"
into
"$baseTexture" "sprites/obj_icons/icon_obj_222_axis"
and you should be able to pack it into the bsp and get rid of the res file. That's not related to the crash issue tho.

Didn't find any serious bugs, just the "twin tank" (http://stuff.ranson-3.de/dod_rommel_b10000.jpg) (you're probably aware of it already) and the overflying planes not using their "idle" animation and flying slightly sideways. Maybe you should also reduce the number of planes to two or one for performance reasons (meaning the flying ones, since they're dynamics and not statics).

And as a feature request, it would be cool if you could shoot the speakers (or the generator) to disable the siren, unless it's embedded within your soundscape script. ;)

Anyway, very nice map. GJ mate.

Hey Moroes I agree with everyone that you did a great job on your map. Just one question though, what do you set your palm trees to keep them from showing the big red errors to everyone else that sees the map? I've used the skybox palm trees and even the top of the palm tree for scenery and still get this message? I mean I only see 3 props that relate to the Palm trees but I am stumped. Not sure if they are supposed to be static, dynamic, or what?

i didn't see the icon to the last objective on my overview map.. i know where the objective should be, but that part of the map isn't on it....maybe it's offscreen somehow?

Ah, ok, I never thought to look behind a crate when the icon is clearly the vehicle. This should definitely be changed. Plus, given the other objectives, this one doesn't make a lot of sense.

it could be fixed with Entspy.... without having to recompile. But that's up to the mapper to decide if he wants ppl changing stuff.

Got it on the House of Noobs Server.

Great looking map. Unfortunately a big download for clients, and the fps gets a little low during the travel on the sand. All the files should be packed into one bsp file so it is easier for the server admins, and the people who download it from the download sites. They won't be confused on what file goes where.
