Bigger? How is it bigger? Its an awesome port of the original. It is kind of annoying to have to go to the tnt in the begining...but other than that, this is awesome. Flugplatz is one of my favorite maps of alltime...Thanks Top Gun Mav.

BTW...I noticed credits for a cow model...is the easter egg from the original in here? Also, is there any way to blow up the planes like in the original?

The only compliant Ive heard is the over head plane is annoying. Turn the volume down on the flyby sounds or make it not so frequent.

Other than that, tis a nice map =) I like how true to the OG version it is. Good work dude

Too much fog is the only complaint that I have heard other then that everyone loves it!

I apologise for this, but bigger maps with lots of detail come at a high price.... the high file size. I could reduce the number of cubemaps within the map, but it won't bring the file size down too much. I might be able to do something about the custom content, but no promises.

Yes, there will be an Easter egg similar to that of the original and another. I am undecided on how to go about activating the Cow Easter egg though.

The only compliant I’ve heard is the over head plane is annoying. Turn the volume down on the flyby sounds or make it not so frequent.

In an effort to give the map some more ambience and war like feel, I was actually thinking of adding quite a few more planes to the sky box and having them involved in bombing runs, dog fights etc etc.

I know it interferes with the sneaky players who will listen out for footsteps, but I think, come on, it was World War 2. There would have been little or no time to sit and listen for footsteps if an airbase was being raided. I might drop the volume level down so that the VOIP is still audible in game.

Too much fog is the only complaint that I have heard other then that everyone loves it!

My fault on that one, the Fog will be adjusted slightly, but not too much as it may cause performance issues meaning a further drop in FPS. Then again, it might not since my last optimisation.

Thanks again for the feed back, KEEP IT COMING :)

I agree, and this brings back a point I brought up while discussing map file size.

Mappers should not have to compromise their work just because people are impatient and can't wait to download a map from a server.

Get the map from a site before joining the server is my advice.

I wouldn't obsess over the file size. b4 sits at 50 MB, there are many maps bigger than this, including Strand (54 MB) and Dijon (67 MB!), and that doesn't stop them from being widely played.

It's nice to see custom content, great models, great textures, it helps giving maps a unique ambiance and "personality", and differentiate them from the latest village with "Italian" textures with a well and a cafe to cap.

People who disconnect at map load because it's 50 MB wouldn't stay if it were 45, or even 35 MB. If someone waits 30 secs, they will also wait 40 secs.

Thanks for the map. I still haven't played it but I liked the original very much. Keep it up. :)

You know, my comment about the size is this:

Not sure if people know about this or noticed this, but when downloading a .bz2 file from a server, the progress bar only needs to go halfway, the rest of the bar is extracting and client info and such. Many people probably think that the bar needs to go the whole way for the download, which is not the case, like with the HL1 engine.

Also, go take a poop or a piss or get a bite to eat if you can't wait for the map. Does everyone want a 5MB map (plain, small) without utilizing the resources available from the Source Engine?

I'll wait for a 100MB map. I have plenty I can do in the meantime while waiting, especially when I download @ a Mb/sec.

BTW, don't reduce the detail too much because that's what b2 and b3 were missing, and I was really impressed by the increased level of detail in this version. I still think that you could "sourcify" it just a little more so that things don't look really blocky, but that's just me.
