Hey guys, Im always on the look out for flexible options when modding, and when searching for custom compile tools for Half-Life 2, I found these.
http://www.gamedesign.net/book/print/663
Heres a direct quote with some info:
What is CST? {Custom Source Tools}
CST is up to 40% faster then the valve tools; even though they are built from the latest version of the tools source code (August SDK).
The reason why people use them is for the speed, and also for the games, and mods that they support, 1.2 for example supports The Ship, while older versions bumped up plane counts for Dystopia, and other small lighting quality fixes for all games.
I also added porthole vectors to save people having to mess around with large blocks, and cordon tools, along with other vector code for things that valve has now only just started adding.
So they are a not so much advanced version of ZHLT, but they still offer a large smack of options that V don’t.
For the record... I havent tried them out yet so I have no idea if they work at all or as claimed. Check em out and lets post our results if they work, if they work well, too slow, much faster, etc etc so we can compare and contrast valves SDK compiling tools and hopefully speed up mapping.
