Hey guys,
My first detonation map, dod_U471_b2 is now available for public testing.
Setting : The Allied Forces must infiltrate a heavily defended Axis U-Boat facility carved into a mountain, destroying 3 objectives including the pride of the Axis Navy, UnterseeBoot U-471.
The map features an advancing/retreating spawn system as well as a sinking U-Boat.

I like the map, but i am not sure, if it is possible to bomb everything on a big server. Interesting would be a para mod for such maps. Something like you just spawn once (or X times) and the attacker has more spots. 12 vs 10 or something like that. then you could take it out with nice tactics

The level was tested on a full 24 man server and the allies won many times, the advancing spawns move the gameplay ahead.

This map is NOT that hard for the allies to do damage. It allows for a lot of movement - it just doesn't look like it. Even the sub pen has 5 entrances
Ultra, did you manage to fix that detonation bug?

Awesome map!
Sadly I get 12-8 fps, similar to what I get on dod-cherbourg_b2.
May be system/driver specific, because this was on my Vista system with Nvidia 101.41 drivers.
I will have to test this map on my Win XP system, I am sure it will be ok.

It's either good FPS or fantastic looking water. Can't be both.
Considering there is no real light source below IMHO it should be dark anyway. And not being transparent it has the added effect of hiding where people are gonna come out of the water.
Btw once you have destroyed the u-boat the ladder is still there..

Yes a beautiful and awesome game play map, always enjoying your mapping style. I believe you have just set the bar even high now for other mappers to create unique game play maps. Yes the challenge is on.

Allies teleport from one of the ammo storage rooms (the one near the forklift) back to the allied spawn. I went in without blowing the first det objective and used the ladders to get in. As soon as I enter the room and before i hit the tnt charges i hit the teleport entity. SP only so not sure if that happens if Axis in the map.

FuzzDad: Technically that can happen in SP and MP. BUT, it will not happen in MP cause the Axis spawn outside and heavily defend at round start . The Allied spawn advances when the door is blown. As soon as the Axis die outside they spawn back into the base near the sub to defend it.
I've played a few games today, noone even came close to bypassing that door off the start ! lol
Big Thanks to Trp.Jed for the kick arse u-boat model, ppl are blown away by the detail on it. Pedroleum troop carrier trucks are great too.
Trp. Jed, is there a problem with the collision on that sub? It stops bullets fine, but if someone dies on it they fall through it. Is there an easy fix to this?

its a fun map. ive actually only played axis so far (and mostly MG, kicking butt)
most people will get confused at first, but the more you play the more you understand. not every map can be simple

There were so many things to fix I guess that is one he set for the back burner. It also really isn't any kind of advantage for the allies I can think of; it IS a bit of a distraction and probably would REALLY piss off some allied dude who actually did manage to make it past the front door and live, just to end back in spawn.

Hmm interesting. Maybe because the model is a static prop the collision hull doesn't move with it?
Try using "vcollide_wireframe 1" in the console and see what the collision hull is doing.

Great map !
only 2 problems:
1) people can get stuck near the Allied 2nd Spawn exit (i.e. after having blown up the door)
Edit: this seems to the the same problem as reported in post #10 by Rosie
2) a lot of people (all of them Axis) were complaining because it was really easy for the US to spawn camp and kill the Axis guys once the doors were opened (the spawn points at the bottom of the staircases once the main blast door is blown up). Not sure how to fix that but it was quite annoying...

I'm gonna remove the ventilation shaft that exits into that spawn and func_teamwall the whole outer spawn area for the axis. Also adding another exit to the 2 axis spawn rooms.

haha good.. i kept getting lost trying to get to the action from the axis spawn... then lost again in the ventilation shafts... very cool map though... your best yet...
i also think that the forklift could hit the road... it looks too modern.
