Work on this port continues ... had a playtest the other night on COJ -- playtest remains good, lots of work still to go in making it "source-ified."

Nice. Keep going!

A tip is to use many, many displacements. I don't know what the FPS say so far, but if there are still reserves, use many displacements for walls, roofs and such.

Cheers,

Albatros

My understanding is that displacements are one of the cheapest things to render, so if he has room, use it for details.

They're also hard to lit (lightmap scales goes way down on them) so using them for an entire building where there is a clear contrast may not prove a good idea.

They also can't be optimized or hinted off, so if you see one triangle of your displacement, it's all rendered.

Finally you'll see that you can easily reach a point where you have too many showing at once. That doesn't apply particularly to Rouen, but try an outdoor setting as in Rive, and you'll see

A little update -- tweaked the color (thanks Furyo!) -- hoping for a playtest soon -- watch for it on COJ or Sunlit. :)

Thanks!

Going on vacation next week, so not much activity for a bit.

Layout is basically unchanged, but now with rubble piles here and there, will want to check how that plays and how badly frame rates are affected by all the sauce stuff.

.....maybe a playtest late September?
