Multiple skin question

Is it possible to have multiple skin sets for map models? there is the skin number when placing a model so I think it should be possible. If so can I plz get the info I need to type into the .qc file for when I compile the model.

I know you can use sub models for this BUT I'm already using submodels + animations already.
