This might not be realistic, but I'm a wolverine fan and this was about the first thing that popped in my head for making my first model for source and animate it.

The skin is sorta complete.
I will mess with phong, it now uses envmaps.
I will focus on animations now, texture can be done later.

Actually, I find env maps work better with the shiny knives thing. I tested out using phong shaders on my trench knife and it just didn't look right.

You are right.
I also tested it with phong and it doesn't look right indeed.

But actually, phong is used to make things smooth looking.
And envmaps is used to make things look reflecting.

*update*

Allrighty, check out my my animation from scratch (captured in max).
These claws will replace the v_amerk model.
It will have:
- new draw animation
- new idle animation (not like the default idle -> no animation at all)
- new draw animation
So, everything really.

What I will most likely not do is:
* extract and retract the claws
(This takes to much time messing around with that)
* Make it look "better" (hand less close), cause that just doesn't work cause of the cameraview, which sucks in my opinion, but it might look better in game but I'm not sure.

This is proabably the best I and the best one can make to make it look as realistic as possible.
If you view if from a side view, then the arms are like almost fully stretched so...

The view is not as I expected but it has been discussed in a thread before and I will post my new opinion about this soon, so I'll explain more about this later.
