Hey guys, long time no post. My PC had died on its arse so I had to fork out for a new one, lost everything, all my old maps, everything, pretty bummed out too.

Anyhow, I began mapping earlier today, and went to test it, and I came up with this error: "Unable to load authentication library, Exiting" -- so I did some researching. Ended up searching this topic: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=512445&highlight=authentication+library -- however no fixes.

Wondering if anyone has this problem, and what if anything did you do about it.

I have Windows XP on a pretty tanky PC, so I doubt its a performance issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i had this to i fixed it buy reformating and update windows and it dont do it no more

I had to do the latter, too.

I don't know if ultranew_b's links have included deleting the html files - if not, you might try that too.

If this is a fix I might finally be forced to update to SP2. I have not had any success fixing this problem for two months now.
