Well, can it be done? Instead of the punch, a nice hefty SMACK with the Tommy's butt ? Bringing the gun model up and BANG down into the face with the mp40 ? Just outta curiosity...

It'd be very jumpy, the animation is very short. Even now the it seems to skip a beat when punching repeatedly. I was thinking about this though.

As pinecone said, the length of the attack is the main issue.

The buttsmack in DOD was very cool, and I miss it, but if you really analyze it you will see that it is twice as long. The current melee is IMHO way too short to get an effective animation with a buttsmack

Well, in CoD2 they have buttsmack, and it's pretty quick. Maybe you could take some influence from that.

The punch animation is a lot shorter than you think ;)

yea, i dont think its possible to even swing a rifle that fast (although if you could it would make alot more sense dying from that than a punch.. a nice hefty piece of wood in the face at 100 MPH :-P)... but then again the spade swings WAY too fast as well... i have one and man... its damn near impossible to swing it as fast at they do in dod.

How about a barrel thrust? :D

Even if the (animation time) were longer, it still couldn't be done. Well, you could do it if it were longer, but I doubt the model would look right. You'd have to use a custom Tommy/MP40 model or edit the default model, because the default models have deleted faces, don't they?

There are custom MP40 and Tommy models out there, though.
