Hi,
I've taken the CS 1.6 version of de_aztec and ported it to source. you can download it and find screenshots at http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/19636.
it's quite decent looking and runs better than the cs:source aztec. ideal for 20 people.

EDIT: one HUGE advantage is the small file size. it's 5.2mb, but if compressed with .bz2, it's 2.2mb.

Thanks the_irate_pirate, would it be possible if you could move the spawn protection away from the spawn more then it currently is?
You can still get too close for both sides. Cheers.

We have it currently on our server. Along with a remake from the [SAS] clan who also did an Aztec remake, but this one you did is a lot smaller in size. :D

nice to hear, gotta check it out :)

btw, i checked it out on your server and you have the older version. the newer version has the spawnpoints protected, the whole map is brighter, and the bridge is no longer a pitfall of doom.

Hmmmmm, not sure i understand what ur saying. Well first let me understand, is this a serverside issue or a clientside issue? Also my server is running off of a Linux box, is this map Linux compatible?

the_irate_pirate

certainly is. try running the map on a local server and see if everything shows up.

Have the same problem on our server and on local client, using older version until this is rectified. The boxes and many separate blocks are showing as the purple/black checker board.
Even in this version the spawn protection should be moved farther away from spawn. Cheers.

Yeah copy that Pvt. Snail, removing from my server until there's an update.

spawndriven, i think you should give this a try:
extract the textures that aren't showing up and create a .res file that would enforce their downloading. see if that works.
i absolutely detest embedding textures into .bsp's. i have this sort of thing happen all the time. Since Pakrat always resulted in purple-checkered textures, I used this program called "map analyzer" that i downloaded from fpsbanana.com. Cannonfodder's WinBSPZip doesnt work at all..

heck if anyone here is good with this embeding thing, take apart the .bsp, take out the embedded textures and re-embed them with any program you like, I encourage you to do so. and come back with a full account of how you made it work..

Pakrat works fine. You sure you have the latest version?

1. Open Pakrat
2. Select your bsp
3. Hit "Auto" button.
4. Message box will come up. Add files"Yes".
5. File Menu -> Save BSP.

Regarding pink checkerboard. That's a path issue.

You can always check maps that have succesfully embedded files into the bsp.

Open it up with Pakrat.

You can then check the proper file paths you need to use.

All my maps have custom content embedded as well, feel free to check the paths out in the bsp.

well i've always used Pakrat exactly the way you described. and sometimes it fails, such as with this map. did all textures show up for you? (assuming that you downloaded the map..)

irate, i would re-do whatever it is u have to use Pakrat for again, u mentioned at times it fails so this is probably one of those times. I don't have Pakrat, dunno where to get it, dunno how i would go about using it.

well i updated it. i used pakrat, yet the "auto" function didnt find the custom textures i used, so i had to add them manually.
hope this works!!!
