Hey guys,
got my real life studying stuff done for this semester and now I can start through with DoD_Schwetz a little sooner than I had expected.

Any material - screenshots, models, textures, whatever you have - would be appreciated.
Let's hope I'll be able to make this a good one... :)
- Albatros
P.S.:
I've been talking to Kamikazi who made this originally - he said it's now valve property so everybody can give it a shot.
If there's anybody else who has been working on it for a while, please send me a PM soon so I can step back.
Wouldn't be a big problem yet because I could go over to my next project. Would have to be soon though.

hey albatros, like i suggested to (oh noes i forget who it was) in another thread, ive still got a copy of the map on an old version of dod. i can set it up to work on steam then send it to you so you can have a run around on it and take your own screenshots and check out the models and stuff. lemme know and i can work on it. (hell... i think il do it anyway, considering the amount of remakes comming out now)

Hey PanFrie!
That would so ROCK!!! Seriously do you think you'll get it to work?
You'd be my personal hero :D
Edit:
by the way, I didn't remember Schwetz was THAT large.
Gonna take a while to make it :(
Featuring Spine's most excellent textures :)

aight, il work on it when i get home (at school ATM during spare cause i gotta stay till Jazz Band (w00 h00 trumpet)). i know i can get it to work, but it sucks unless you use default controls (which i dont do), cause i did have them ALL working on steam (playing online was a little bit of a problem though :-P) Il try and get the latest one that had that map and post it somewhere (il toss a link in here for ya)

oh god re-opening that game gave me some nice memories... anyway, here ya go
http://files.filefront.com//;6514707;;/ (its 135 megs :-O)
i set it up so all you need to do is put it into your Half Life folder in steam (.../steam/steamAPPS/login@name.com/half-life/) and reset steam. after that the game should appear in your steam window as "Day of Defeat 3.1 beta" and make use you fix the controls... im pretty sure its gonna have my controls on it to start... so you can either screw around with those until you get phed up with them (doesnt take too long, but there so much better than WASD controls... cause you can go forwards, backwards, left, right, jump, duck, and shoot all at the same time... which you cant do with WASD... and i know its not useful... until your trying to do tricky manoeuvrer's that is :-))

OMG PanFrie,
<3 <3 <3 you for that!
That's incredible, it's got a touch of nostalgy as well as an ounce of necromancy giving it a special thrill :D.
I don't know how you achieved this and I'm not sure I want to since there must be some sorcery going on, but hey, it's simply amazing. I hesitated from trying anything like that since Schwetz hasn't been an official map anymore for such a long time & most of all I wouldn't ever have tried running old DoD on new Steam... great work there!
Downloading it right now!
Thanks man!
@ Pvt. Snail:
Also very appreciated! Didn't have this overview before.
With this flood of input, how could I fail... or allow myself to fail, rather :P :P
Cheers,
Albatros

Also found this nice sketch which was done by Juggernaut[OwP] awhile back. As you can see, many of use would really enjoy having this map available in source. :D

@Pat:
Great stuff once again. Thank you!
Last Screener for a while.
I'd have projected a build-time of 4 weeks, but somehow the work goes faster than I thought... partially due to the non-plus-ultra support :D thanks everybody.
I guess we could have a playable beta by the beginning of february :).

Your getting some good progress done on the map but its best you check the database before you get started. Check this http://www.dod-federation.com/map_name.php or if you perfer, http://www.dod-federation.com/map_name_search.php?search=dod_schwetz . yes its been awhile but i have started schewtz again recently and have been working on it from time to time.

A new name is always good, new blood as it were. So the name "dod_schwetz" is taken and anticipate this map for our server.
This map from [AoS]Albatros will be called something different.
Will be also interesting to see the 3 or 4 version of caen which are being developed. Cheers.

Hi fikes,
as you said, there wasn't much of a sign of Schwetz being remade, but obviously I must have missed it when I was checking it in the forums.
Anyway, I'll be calling mine dod_schwetz_classic, that should be fine with everybody.
Looking forward to playing your version some day when you've finished it :).
Cheers & thanks for the new input,
Albatros
P.S.: @ Unk: I'm using the DoD standard fgd. Everything I did was using the German MG model on a prop_static so I can estimate the dimensions for mapping in the best way - it'll be removed before the compile, of course. :)

hey albatros, seeing as neither of us are evern on MSN at the same time...
download half-life 1 on steam
run hl1
start a game
close the game and exit (what you just did created all the folders and everything)
exctract the dod_b31 folder to /steam/steamAPPS/login@name.com/half-life/ (so now if you goto /steam/steamAPPS/login@name.com/half-life/dod_b31 all the dod stuff should be there)
exit steam
re-open steam
Day of Defeat 3.1 beta should be in the games list (do you own hl1?)
and uhh, like i said before, change the controls, you will most likely have a huge "wtf is this guys thinking with these controls????" moment otherwise :-P but your welcome to try it out.
[AoS]Albatros check your pm

Hi Unk!
I've been answering you two posts above:
"P.S.: @ Unk: I'm using the DoD standard fgd. Everything I did was using the German MG model on a prop_static so I can estimate the dimensions for mapping in the best way - it'll be removed before the compile, of course. "
Cheers!

By the way - I've been talking to fikes on PM.
I might be putting my Schwetz-Version on hold for a while and rename it differently again.
i do the same thing i feel stupid ;.//
