Some n00bie questions

Hey guys, I've only just started to learn how to map this week and I'm just getting to learn a few of the basics and so on.

But I've got a few questions I'd like to ask as the tuts I've read didn't go into enuff detail describing exactly how to do certain things and then theres some things I haven't found yet aswell.

1. What height are the player models in Dod? I'm not sure what they are and don't want to go making windows and stuff that ya can't see over.

2. Transparent camo nets etc? I tried making a trench network today and wanted to cover it with a camo net, now the tut I read said to tie a func_wall or func_illusionary to the camo net so it doesn't have the blue in it. I tried this and it didn't work. I did everything like it said to do :( Ideas?

Um I think thats it for the time being, I'm sure I'll have some more questions I can't find answers to in the tuts :(

1. Im not sure but think the player is 60 points high, but I always place a info_axis_spawnpoint or allies where I want to know the size since it has the form of a player. If you are making doors do remember to make them somewhat bigger then player is since it might be hard to get through the door if you make it exact player size...

2. You are on the right way here, you probebly missed is that you have to set rendermode: solid and fx_amount: 255 in the func_wall/func_illusion properties

Thanks for that mate, I did set the fx_amount to 255 I remember reading that.

I'll try again and see what happens this time :D

Least I know how big to make the walls and stuff now, mine are all rather large atm :(

Bah doesn't matter I was only learning :D

Player is 72 units high. Make steps no higher than 16 units. I want to say we put sandbag emplacements at 42 units but I'm not sure on that one.

Player size is 32x32 x 72 height. Ducked is 32 or 36, I'm not sure.
Make "hole" at least +1 grater to get thru, but making too tight makes trouble for player movement (esp. trying to jump thru cuch narrow window). Better add +8 for safety. Remember that player is a box so with sloped paths you should add more height if you place cover.
