You wanted reference pics for your commando's. It took me a while to get back on since the forums reset.
Here (http://www.speedfreak.com/misc/scots_commandos.jpg) is a pic of what I belive are members of No 4. Commando just before the Dieppe raid.
Their all wearing the comfort cap and standard British battledress which wasn't camoflauged. They have P37 webbing, the same toggle rope as the airborne wore and a floatation ring around their chests.
At least two are carrying pistols (one on his right hip, one left waist - I believe thats Lord Lovat)
Note they also often wore Bergen style rucksacks rather than the P37 small pack which look like this (http://www.6th-airborne.org/resources/gear3.jpg)
