Thanks to Ranson for the plane models

Classic style play, 5 flags, supports 32 players, HDR ready. Changes over the beta test mainly optimizations, player should see better frame rates, shortened cap times on flags, all content bsp zipped.

Thanks to Rosie and John at Sunlit Games.

Enjoy.

Nice looking map !! Some of the dark areas seemed a tad dark, I had to turn on the flashlight. Possibly increase the ambient light a tad.

Found an error in a bathroom:

Congrats on the release Paul, walked around and I dug it :)

Good lookin' map. Only crits is those plans are going super fast and that the skybox buildings are really low res textures and from an Italy environment, so it looks jarring and certainly unrealistic so close to the player's view walking along the streets.

Not sure what's with the shadows, maybe I am missing an entity.

Thanks FMP I will work on the skybox a bit harder on the final.

This isn't a chemile remake is it? It seems to have the same palette range ;)

Jks, it looks good man, quality. Not being a big player of custom maps I was surprised to recignise the name for this one, seems to be quite well known.

Very good map!!! Running on Home of the Testicle as we speak!

Very nice map indeed, plays well, although some commented on the first axis flag being to close to the spawn for the allies to cap. Needs more playing to see if its a problem.

Also not too big a download, which has earned its place on our servers map rotation ;)

The first allies is just as close, and so far it has seemed to play very evenly. Let me know how it works out for you Hellstar and if it seems one sided.

I think the yellow shadows are due to a lack of shadow control entity, I will make sure there is one in the final.

Thanks for the comments corporal.

The flyby would not be possible without the nice planes, thanks again to Ranson.

They sound like jets not P-51's.

HERE (http://www.uploading.com/files/QY9O9HIZ/flybys.zip.html) are some I have collected from DoD play, 2 are from FuzzDad the others I'm not sure who originally made them.

I think that this is a really great map and that it plays very well. I played it with about 10 people or so in our DoD:S server (8.9.9.212:27015) and everybody really liked it.

I think that the only changes should be a few markers or something placed on some of the walls to direct the action, or possibly, edit the overhead map to give "direction" pointers similar to dod_jagd. A lot of folks tended to get lost in the sewers right when they started playing, and didn't give the map enmough of a chance because of that.

Other than that, the only thing that I didn't like was how loud the airplanes were, at some times, they just seemed to be a bit too loud. useful, though, to make an attack in relative silence. Oh, and, I'd leave that door open a bit more that goes to the house near the middle-capture point... having it closed doesn't seem to serve much of a purpose, to me.

Great map though and I look forwrd to the finished project,

I doubt I will put markers on the map, perhaps a better overview though. It's really not that big and shouldn't take long to learn. As far as that door I was going to use it to create a portal, but in the end I didn't need to, so perhaps removing it is a good idea. Thanks for the comments.

Thanks for the sounds rommel, but they aren't of the best quality. The sounds files I used are from a prop plane, not a jet. I suppose they aren't the most appropriate, but I feel they are suitable, if I can find something a bit better I will change them.

After playing a bit more, I thought that the sound the planes made was fine, but maybe just limiting it to once or twice per 30 minutes? If they flew overhead maybe once every 15 minutes or so, it could provide that sense of realism (that you are in battle), but there wouldn't be the issue with the rather loud noise.

I really love the layout of this map, everything was thought out very well and I think that it plays great. It took me a while to figure out the back-entrances to the 1st and 5th flags, and they really change everything... I'd love to play this map on a full server, and if anybody would like to sometime, shoot me a message and we'll setup a night to play it 11 on 11 or so (8.9.9.212)

We have this map on our server and it seems to be fairly popular with the general consensus.

I dont know if i'm missing sounds or they're not loading for me but the map feels very isolated and quiet, with the only sounds being the flyover.
Will there be any plans for a few ambient sounds to be added to give it abit more "soul". It may just be my personal preference but distant battle sounds. It may help to make it feel more "apart" of wwII rather than an isolated void.

Merely personal opinon though.

There is a looping ambient sound but it's not very loud. Load up the map alone and sit quietly you will hear it. There is mixed opinions on ambient sounds, some people enjoy it, some people relly complain about it so I tried to keep it minimal.
