Round 2! dod_strand is a faithful source conversion of the original dod map, dod_charlie. It's the same map you used to know and love (or absolutely hated). Axis can use mortars to inflict extra damage upon the invading doughboys. The Allied forces must destroy the four Axis strongholds. Up to 32 players are supported.
Prepare to storm the beach (or alternatively, to fight off the invaders)!

Hmm...I have no idea what that means. Can you try deleting the file and redownloading it? Perhaps something was corrupted the first time around. It could be worth a shot.

Hey Jules,
please check the "Support" forums.
As I expected - something has happened to the detection of the source GCF.
No worries Dustin, it's most certainly not related to your map.

All you have to do now is hard-code no snipers and no allied MGs so people don't sit on the beach and waste time and be worthless.
A+

Ha ha, yeah i hate that. I can never understand why they just sit and wait on the beach. They always die from mortars, but as soon as they respawn they just head back to the same place...To many people, kills>wins. :(
If you want limited classes, try appealing to the server admins running the map to make specific class restrictions for that map. It's easy to do, and that way it doesnt ruin it for people on different servers who want to have snipers and mgs.

As much as I like this map, I think that in this version, the Allied have waaay too much time to complete the objectives now (yeah I know that a lot of people complained about not having enough time before but I thought it was perfect then...)

This map is simply great - i'd to extend the maptime from standard 30 (+15 minutes extension possibility) to 45 minutes (+30 minutes extension possibility) and still some claims that the map don't run long enough :D

The only gripe I have with the map is the colour of the sand, it's early in the morning and the beach has been taking heavy naval bombardment, so naturally the sand is wet, i.e. dark brown, it just seems a little too light at the moment.

Who the Fruck cares about the sand color, Atleast he remade charlie. Thanks Diamond!!
So you can set up a charge at the shingle to blow away the wires right? like a bandalore pipe you can interact with.
as for the sand, a few patches of disturbed earth would be nice like artillery and mortar explosions. maybe even craters you can take cover it.

Yes, you need TNT packs to blow through the shingle.
And the craters you mentioned are already in the map :)

Sorry to revive this older topic, but has anyone noticed any glaring bugs/glitches/hax?? This release has been out for a little bit, so people have had a chance to get used to it. I haven't heard many bug reports and I'd like to release a final sometime in the near future.

Been playing this map regularly, and I cant find any issues with it. Looks very polished for an RC1 version. Great map DD.
I reckon you are good to go for final mate ;)

Nah, needs to be all dev textured...
As the other posters have said, haven't seen any bugs when I've played it - good for final IMHO

Hello,
perhaps someone can help me, I uploaded the map to my server, it runs fine without problems. But I can't download it from the server. All players got the message: missing map dod_strand_rc1.bsp, disconnecting. Whats the matter with this? sv_allowdownload is set to "1" and I also tried this on a fresh server setup. Redirecting the download to our webspace also doesn't work.
If you put the map in your map folder manually, it's no problem to connect and play this map.
Any ideas?

When I had my server, I found that the Mani admin setting rarely worked. What you need to do is install the maps on a web-server and point the 'sv_downloadurl' line to the maps folder on your web server.
The folder structure on your web server has to be the same as on your game server for the download to work.
ie: sv_downloadurl "http://www.yourwebserver.com/hl2/day of defeat source/dod/maps/"
There's also another way of doing it as explained in this post:

Thanks a lot for your answer! I'll try this way this evening and then report back, if it worked (what I hope it will :) )
